My name is Faisal Mir and I run a company called Firm Group. We specialise in rented accommodation in the Docklands and within the West London area. The company has been running for about 3 to 4 years now. It started off very small and we've got approximately 5 properties that we're dealing with at the moment. Looking to extend on that in the near future.
With the current climate the way it is, it is quite difficult so I speak to a lot of brokers, a lot of banks.
The best thing about being self employed is being able to take time off when it suits you. Obviously you don't ever take time off really as you are always accessible via mobile phone so when you do get down time you do get the odd phone call. Being self employed you've only yourself to blame when anything goes wrong but also it's nice to feel the success of a growing business.
There is always a bottle of wine or a bottle of Champagne in the appartment ready for the new tenant to move in. At least it gives me a little bit to work on if a problem does arise at lease the tenant will remember "Well he did give me a drink after all"
Faisal runs a property company called Firm Group. To him the feeling of success is worth the hard work, and he finds it important to build good relationships with his tenants early on in-case anything should go wrong.
