Asbestos is a killer. Its fibres get into peoples lungs and can cause fatal lung disease. Unfortunately, asbestos was widely used in building materials, often in insulation, before its dangers were properly understood and it is still found in many older buildings, from factories to offices. Our guide explains what you should do as part of an asbestos risk assessment and the steps you should take if you suspect that your work buildings contain asbestos.
Any asbestos risk assessment needs to identify where asbestos may be located, what state it is in and who may be at risk from exposed fibres. You must then draw up a plan to control the risks. Our free guide will help you to understand what your obligations are and will take you through the steps you should take as part of any asbestos risk management plan.
Important: You are not required to remove asbestos containing materials (ACMs). This should only be done with expert guidance in a professionally controlled environment.
