Local variation
However, as Andrew Cave puts it, there's no "magic bullet" for the problems faced in different areas of the UK. For instance, businesses in Wales are set to benefit automatically from changes to the rules on small business rate relief - whereas those in England are still expected to apply for that benefit. Meanwhile, outrage over town-centre parking charges in some areas has led the FSB to create a mini-manifesto.
And so it follows that different regions are handling their campaigns differently. In South and East Yorkshire, they are recruiting KTL "champions" for every shop parade and business centre they can find. While in Thames Valley, campaigners have concentrated on teaming up with existing local groups such as high street associations, and have distributed posters and window stickers. They've also linked with the Reading Evening Post - which prints the KTL logo on local business stories - to help spread the word.
