The ABI's Insurance for Small Business Guide
The 2007 floods reminded many people just how important it is to protect their business from risks. Some insurance is required by law, while additional types of cover help you make sure your business is prepared for a range of other circumstances.
The Association of British Insurers' (ABI's) guide offers small business insurance advice to help you protect your business, employees and property.
What's in the ABI's Insurance for Small Businesses Guide?
The guide outlines the types of insurance your business is required to have by law.
If you are an employer, you must have Employers' Liability Insurance to cover the cost of compensation should one of your employees be injured at work, or become ill as a result of work done for your business.
If your business uses vehicles, you are required to have Third Party Motor Insurance, which can be upgraded to cover fire and theft. Comprehensive insurance will also protect against accidental damage.
The guide also looks at other kinds of small business insurance, such as policies that cover compensation and legal claims, and those that protect your employees or your property.
As well as offering guidance on how to buy small business insurance, the guide suggests how you can manage and reduce risks to your business.
