Employers' attitudes towards health are important to employees, research by a campaign group has found.
And some six in 10 workers would consider leaving a job if their employers did not address matters of health and wellbeing, according to research by the Business Action on Health campaign.
The survey also showed that eight in 10 (83%) employees said that employers' attitudes to health were an important factor in their deliberations over potential jobs.
The campaign, run by Business in the Community, released the findings to launch its Healthy Eating Toolkit. The toolkit gives examples of best practice by employers and promotes healthy eating in the workplace.
The BITC's most recent Corporate Responsibility Index showed that seven in 10 companies now take action on health and wellbeing.
"Our research clearly shows that workplace welfare is an emerging weapon in the battle for talent," said Stephen Howard, chief executive of BITC.
Business Action on Health has developed an award for small organisations who display 'individual areas of best practice' with regard to health and wellbeing.
