The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has urged businesses to enter its Chamber Awards 2008 before the 27 June deadline.
The awards, which carry a £50,000 cash prize for the overall winner, recognise firms that excel in a range of categories such as customer service and international trade.
Small businesses are well catered for by the competition, with categories that include Entrepreneur of the Year and Most Promising New Business. Firms can enter under as many categories as they wish.
"Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to celebrate and reward excellence in our British businesses," said BCC president Peter Mileham. "There are too few opportunities to recognise the hard work and contribution that business makes to our society."
"These awards could be your chance to get the recognition you deserve," he added.
Last year's award was won by crisp manufacturer Tyrells, which also won the Green Award. It planned to use the prize fund to establish its own organic oil seed rape production, removing the company's reliance on imported sunflower oil.
