My Watercooler

MORE TH>N BUSINESS has launched a new website for small business owners called my watercooler. The site is a support network and free online meeting place for small businesses like you to talk to other small business people to share thoughts, ideas and expertise, as well as lending your own knowledge.

The site enables small businesses across the UK to:

  • Swap skills and services - e.g. find an accountant who will help with your tax returns in exchange for plumbing advice
  • Share problems and solutions - small businesses and sole traders needn’t be isolated
  • Create informal business networks - find similar businesses to share marketing costs or help deliver big orders, find complementary businesses to offer broader services together
  • Make new friends, discuss current affairs and business issues, or just the weather and last night’s telly...

It's free to use and was developed to help bridge the gap between working in a thriving office environment as part of a large team and working in a small business or even in a freelance capacity.

You can also listen to a number of MORE TH>N BUSINESS podcasts on the site, which have been designed to address the issues small businesses face. The first features Professor Colin Barrow, a small business and enterprise expert from Cranfield University. The podcast talks about the importance of networking and informal relationships in business. It can be listened to on the site or downloaded from iTunes.

Check out the site now at www.mywatercooler.co.uk and you could start talking to other small business people just like yourself today.
